About Me

Hi, I'm Amos.

I have been fascinated / gripped by philosophy for over 10 years now. My journey took me from atheism and religion over politics and economics to ethics and psychology. My main interest is the question of ethics: “What is good and what is evil? What should one do or not do, and why?” In the course of my philosophical journey, I have read many books, visited a psychological counseling for 2 years, passed an online course in psychology, and listened to around 2000 to 3000 podcasts, debates, talks, and lectures online.

In my official education, I completed a masters degree in mechanical engineering at ETH Zurich, where I focused on robotics, control systems, and artificial intelligence. I graduated in 2015 and have been working in an engineering company since then.

One of my main goals in life is to make a contribution to the finding of a science based universal theory of ethics. This theory should be logically consistent and based on universal human characteristics, such that everyone could accept it / relate to it. If everyone lived by the same code of ethics, then many of today’s wars and conflicts would probably not exist.

With this site, I want to start putting my ideas out there and testing them against the feedback of the world. I realized some time ago, that I need to collaborate with other people who are also working on the problem of ethics, because that problem is way too complicated for me to really get anywhere by myself. Through dialogue, two people can link their brains together and reach new thoughts and insights that neither one of them could have reached by themselves. It is in that manner that I hope to help push the science of ethics a little bit forward. With this site, I also want to start pursuing my dream of being able to earn a living while researching these topics.

So welcome to my site! I hope you will find some of my work interesting and thought-provoking.
